The Wicomico County Sherif's Office announced on Thursday that James Arthur Thompson, has been indicted on a total of 228 charges following a months-long investigation into allegations of the sexual abuse of a minor.
During the investigation, officials say that the findings "uncovered deeply concerning evidence of prolonged abuse perpetrated by Thompson against the minor over the span of several years."
Thompson was arrested on Monday, April 15 and charged by a grand jury with "an extensive list of offenses," including:
- Sex abuse of a minor-house/family member;
- Sex abuse of a minor;
- First- and second-degree rape;
- Second- and third-degree se offense;
- Sex trafficking-explicit performance;
- Sex trafficking-take/cause;
- Sexual solicitation of a minor;
- Threatening to cause another to engage in a sex act;
- Threatening to cause another to engage in a sex production;
- Stalking;
- Harassing a minor;
- Obscene misuse of a telephone;
- Camera surveillance of a private area wit prurient intent;
- Child porn: filming a sexual act;
- Child porn: minor as a sex subject;
- Possession of child pornography.
The offenses were reported in Fruitland and Delmar.
Officials made not that Thompson is currently registered as a sex offender. He is being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond pending his next court appearance on May 10.
